Postdoctoral Students

Hye Myung Lee, PhD, joined Dr. Giovenco’s research team as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in 2023. Dr. Lee received her PhD in Health Economics/Health Policy from University of Illinois at Chicago. As a public health researcher, she is interested in studying health policy and tobacco control, with related expertise in tobacco taxation and prices.

Angela Nguyen, DrPH, MPH, is a postdoctoral research scientist for the GATE Program, Dr. Marni Sommer's research team. She earned her doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health and her MPH from the New York University School of Global Public Health. Angela’s interdisciplinary research to date has focused on vulnerable populations, social determinants of health, and environmental exposures.

Sabeeh Baig, PhD, joined Dr. Giovenco’s research team as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in 2019. Dr. Baig received his PhD in Health Behavior from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health in 2018. As a behavioral scientist, he has expertise in health communication, message testing, experimental design and analysis, and advanced psychometric methods. Dr. Baig left Columbia and is now a Social Scientist at FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products. 

Jessica Austin, PhD, joined Dr. Shelton's team as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in 2020. Dr. Austin received her PhD in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health. Her research expertise includes cancer prevention and control, implementation science, and health services/delivery in underserved populations. Dr. Austin is now an Assistant Professor at Mayo Clinic.
