A core component of the Urban+Health Initiative is ensuring that students and public health professionals alike have the opportunities and tools necessary to tackle the urban health challenges of the present and future. Given the global prominence and strategic location of the Mailman School, we have an inherent opportunity for educational innovation and knowledge dissemination that brings evidence and action closer together. We begin by highlighting existing urban health opportunities at the school. As we move toward the future, we will work to not only expand urban health coursework, including planning for a new interdisciplinary certificate, but also build a network of cross-disciplinary training between Columbia University schools.

Summer 2016 Practicum Opportunity

Next Generation NYCHA

The Urban+Health Initiative is sponsoring a practicum experience for the summer of 2016 in partnership with local stakeholders, including the New York Public Housing Authority (NYCHA) and Kohn Pederson Fox (KPF), a NYC based architecture firm. This opportunity was open to all departments and we have a great group of six Mailman students, as well as undergraduates!  More information to come...
