sidHARTe was founded in 2008 to respond to the need for district hospitals to prioritize emergency care. Where resources are limited and skilled healthcare providers are scarce, and patients with life-threatening conditions have long wait times, high-quality emergency care saves lives.

We were tasked to improve clinical training to better prioritize and respond to acute medical needs of the patients’ that they serve, emergency care process improvement, and supervision of health workers for emergency care in low- and middle-income countries. Training programs became the cornerstone of our first years in order to fill critical gaps. Through additional discussions with local partners and needs and resource assessments, our programs have evolved to answer key research questions, develop technical tools to inform policy decisions, and continue to build the capacity of frontline healthcare workers.
