Living in an urban environment may have a distinct impact on disease risk, as well as provide unique opportunities for interventions. Columbia Urban Heath researchers are exploring a breadth of health issues in order to understand disease mechanisms in an urban context.

This study follows children in Head Start programs for at least 2 years to identify factors associated with asthma prevalence, persistence, incidence, and severity.
