Ahlam abuawad

PhD student, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health

Ahlam's research focuses on assessing potential factors involved in arsenic methylation in Bangladeshi populations.

Anne Bozack

PhD candidate, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health

Anne is a 2017 KC Donnelly Externship awardee.  Her research focuses on the epigenetic effects of arsenic exposure, and the influence of one-carbon related micronutrients on arsenic metabolism and DNA methylation. Anne's publications.

Meytal Chernoff

MD-PhD student, University of Chicago Department of Public Health Sciences

Meytal's research focuses on the trans-ethnic genetics of arsenic metabolism and the genetic regulation of arsenic metabolism across tissues.

Dayana Delgado

PhD candidate, University of Chicago Department of Public Health Sciences

Dayana’s research focuses on understanding the biological mechanisms underlying disparities in human disease and the roles of genetic and environmental factors in disease risk, particularly arsenic exposure.

franziska landes

PhD candidate,
Columbia University,
Lamont Doherty Earth Institute

ATHENA NGHIEM

PhD candidate, Columbia Universtiy Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory

Athena is an NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Her research focuses on arsenic contamination in groundwater, investigating biogeochemical mechanisms responsible for arsenic release and in-situ iron based remediation strategies at US Superfund sites and abroad.

Anne E. nigra

PhD candidate, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health

Anne (Annie) is a 2018 KC Donnelly Externship awardee. Her research focuses on arsenic exposure in US drinking water, assessing spatial patterns, temporal trends, and related mortalities. Annie's publications.

Martha Powers

PhD candidate, Johns Hopkins, Bloomberg School of Public Health

Martha’s research focuses on the role of arsenic in lung diseases including tuberculosis. She is also contributing to developing well water arsenic interventions in South Dakota communities.

Roheeni Saxena

PhD candidate, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health

Roheeni's research focuses on the effects of nutritional deficiencies and arsenic exposures on cognitive outcomes in children and adolescents.

Jenni Shearston

PhD student, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health

Jenni's current research focuses on traffic related air pollution, pesticides, and gas stations. She is interested in environmental monitoring and surveillance, and environmental epidemiology. Jenni's publications.

Miranda Spratlen, PhD

Postdoctoral Resesearch Scientist, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health

Miranda’s research is focused on evaluating the relationship between perinatal environmental exposures and subsequent health outcomes in children and adults. Miranda’s publications.

lizeth tamayo

PhD student, University of Chicago Department of Public Health Sciences

Lizeth’s current research focuses on assessing the relationship between telomere length and genome-wide DNA methylation in arsenic exposed individuals, as well as evaluating research participants’ attitudes towards receiving their individual genetic susceptibility to arsenic exposure.

Joseph Yracheta

DrPH candidate, Johns Hopkins, Bloomberg School of Public Health

Joseph is a Senior Researcher at Missouri Breaks Industries and Research. He participates remotely and in person in the seminars and annual meetings. He is committed to a career investigating environmental health problems and solutions in Native communities.

Di Zhao

PhD student, School of the Environment, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China

Di is spending 2 years at Columbia University, visiting from China. Her research focuses on metals availability and the health effects of metal/metalloid mixtures on the cardiovascular system.
