Enhanced Remediation at US Arsenic-Contaminated Sites

Arsenic is one of the most prevalent contaminants at SRP sites, and is also a widespread contaminant in drinking water throughout the world. More than 5% of all domestic wells do not meet water quality standards for arsenic. At these contaminated sites, we currently need improved methods of treating groundwater to minimize off-site transport, and thereby exposure to local populations. This project directly addresses this need and seeks to provide a quantitative description of arsenic transport, and how it can be altered with treatment using magnetite.
