While the focus of International action on climate change mitigation in Low and Middle Income Country (LMICs) has been adaptation, there are multiple short term benefits from mitigation measures, which improve health among local populations and when targeted can reduce health inequalities The seminar will look into experience of engaging with LMIC cities around clean air and climate mitigation actions, focusing on health and involving health actors in the process. The hypothesis discussed is that awareness about the health gains can generate demand for change and influence policies and investments in pollution sectors.
