Facility Cores

The Center has two Facility Cores available to Center members. These include the:

The TRSC and Data FC, together with the Community Engagement Core (CEC) and other CEHJNM’s programs, provide a seamless pipeline to support members throughout their research projects, including community-based participatory research. Investigators select only those services needed to complement their expertise and research focus. The TRSC brings together the expertise of six established labs. The labs are organized into two sub-cores. Dr. Steven Chillrud leads the sub-core comprising expertise on collection and analysis of environmental samples (e.g., air, dust, water, soil, other matrices) and sensor-based data for external exposure assessment; Dr. Regina Santella leads the sub-core comprising expertise on collection and analysis of biological samples (e.g., animal samples or human blood, urine, saliva, hair, nails, tissues, cells). All six labs perform cutting-edge sample analyses.

The Study Design and Data Science Facility Core, co-directed by Dr. Pam Factor-Litvak and Dr. Marianthi-Anna Kioumourtzoglou, provides intellectual and computational resources to plan, conduct, and analyze studies including: guidance and training on data management; spatial and temporal analysis; power calculations; cutting-edge methods including –omics, GIS, and ‘big’ data methods; analysis and interpretation of data; and preparation of manuscripts.
