Overview

Dr. Marco Pedone, the president of Environmental Management Solutions of New York, uses a unique application of the physical sciences to resolve every day environmental risk issues.  He has worked for over fifteen years in the environmental field and is experienced in hazardous site remediation, asbestos and lead abatement, biological/chemical decontamination, wastewater management, petrochemical contamination, and safety engineering and design.

Dr. Pedone is an international author, lecturer, and educator who has published articles on environmental, safety, and management topics.  His articles on environmental risk management and liability reduction have appeared in the NY Real Estate Journal, ENCON Magazine, Environmental Testing, and American Laboratory. He is a contributing author to the Sourcebook on Asbestos Disease (Asbestos Abatement), published by Butterworth Legal Publishers. He has also designed environmental training curriculums and has delivered custom training programs in the areas of hazardous waste operations, first responder training and incident command system, confined space entry, construction and environmental safety, asbestos, lead, and indoor air quality. During the course of his career, Dr. Pedone has had numerous opportunities to interact with and provide support services to city, state, and federal agencies during emergency response and hazardous materials incidents. For example, he performed hazardous materials testing and analysis of dust and debris found in buildings at the World Trade Center site and the surrounding the area.

Global Health Activities

Contaminated Soil Stabilization: Dr. Pedone conducted research and design that produced a soil treatment option that allows petroleum contaminated soil to be batched with asphalt and used as a road sub-base.

Hazardous Materials Management / Construction Safety: Dr. Pedone provided professional training courses for engineers, technicians, and safety managers working for various petroleum related industries.

Urban Health Activities

Hazardous Materials Management and Emergency Environmental Response: Dr. Pedone contributed to management and services relating to emergency clean-up for hazardous materials (chemical, biological, radiological).

Environmental Health Consulting and Testing: Dr. Pedone performed testing for components of water, soil, air, and miscellaneous materials. He also provided consulting for EPA, NYCDEP, NYSDEC and DOH compliance. Examples of his work include asbestos, lead paint, mold, air quality, water quality, oil tanks, forensics and environmental assessments

Safety Engineering: Dr. Pedone provided professional safety consulting services relating to accident investigation for occupational safety accidents, loss control services, training, and assessments.
