Carmen Rodriguez, MA, PhD, is the Director of Columbia University Head Start at the Mailman School of Public Health and has been a faculty member in the Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health since 2002. Prior to her directorship at Head Start, Dr. Rodriguez was the Senior Psychologist at the Therapeutic Nursery at NewYork-Presbyterian/ Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Rodriguez has conducted several rounds of research on the improved use of antibiotics for URI in children of recently immigrated Latinos as part of The ACURI Project, and she continues to conduct research on the provision of Early Head Start and Head Start programs in Northern Manhattan. Dr. Rodriguez was awarded her second Irving Collaborative and Multidisciplinary Pilot Research Award Phase 1 Columbia University in 2012, and she serves as an Advisory Board Member of both The Center for Children and Families at Columbia University School of Nursing and the Quality Universally Inclusive Early Responsive Education: QUIERE Board at Teacher's College.

Columbia University Head Start: Dr. Carmen Rodriguez directs the federally funded Head Start and Early Head Start program sponsored by the School of Public Health. Columbia University Head Start (CUHS) provides comprehensive bilingual child development and family support services to children from birth to age five, pregnant women and their families. The program serves a predominantly Latino immigrant population in Washington Heights and West Harlem/Hamilton Heights.
