Much of R.I.S.E.'s success can be attributed to the personal relationships built between mentors and their mentees. Each mentor may have up to 3 mentees, at any given time; therefore, the size of the R.I.S.E. community is limited. Both mentors and mentees must apply to become part of the R.I.S.E. program. Applicants will be considered on an individual basis with special consideration given to those applicants who were the first in their family to attend college; have, either as a result of their socio-economic background, their status as a member of an historically underrepresented group, their disability status, their LGBTQ status, or other challenging life experiences, overcome obstacles on their journey to graduate school and/or have, through their education or work experience, demonstrated a commitment to serving historically underprivileged populations. All applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing to be considered.

Applications provide students the opportunity to share their personal stories and reasons for wanting to join the R.I.S.E community. Typically we receive more applications than we can accommodate for both mentor and mentee roles. If selected, incoming students will be matched with a mentor for the duration of the academic year.

Please visit our Student Resource page for other ways to access support and engagement opportunities.

Applications for mentor positions are now open and will close on April 1st at 5:00 p.m. Applications for mentee positions are sent to incoming students in June.
