Biostatistics faculty lead and collaborate on public health projects around the world, and their work touches communities both near and far. Whether in New York City or overseas, the department and faculty often provide regulatory expertise as well as training to important agencies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The department’s clinical tracks have broad impact on communities by giving people the tools to ensure that the studies across a whole host of biomedical and public health topics are done correctly and the findings are accurately tested for significance.
Biostatistics faculty also support public health research by supporting major research journals. In addition to refereeing many papers on an ad hoc basis, faculty serve as continuing members of the editorial boards of several major journals including:
American Journal of Public Health, Roger D. Vaughan, associate editor for Statistics and Evaluation
Biometrics, Ken Cheung, associate editor
Computational Statistics, R. Todd Ogden, associate editor
International Journal of Biostatistics, Ian McKeague, associate editor
Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Priya Wickramaratne, editor-at-large for Methodology and Statistics
Journal of Biopharmaceutical Statistics, Bin Cheng, associate editor
Statistical Inference for Stochastic Processes, Ian McKeague, associate editor
