The Center for History and Ethics of Public Health
The Center brings together academic historians, public health ethicists, public health practitioners, and educators in a unique effort to establish history and ethics as an integral part of all health policy and public health analyses. The Center is primarily focused on modern historical and ethical investigations, into ideas and issues that shape contemporary health practice.
Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion
The Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion conducts research, education, and services to improve health promotion and health communication practices. The Center seeks to magnify the effects of its faculty and students through its collaborations, programming, and organizational partnerships.
Center for the Psychosocial Study of Health and Illness
The Center’s team members represent a multidisciplinary group of researchers engaged in work in a variety of areas related to the lived experience of being at risk for or living with a chronic or life-threatening illness. The central focus of the Center’s research activities is on understanding how individuals appraise, cope with, live with and adjust to disease related stressors; these may include the stigma attached to an illness, symptom distress, an uncertain disease trajectory, adherence to demanding treatment regimens, etc.
Harlem Health Promotion Center
The Harlem Health Promotion Center (HHPC) is a collaboration of community, academic, and public health stakeholders to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable communities. Service-learning and student engagement are key components of our work, and we cultivate interdisciplinary collaboration among students from both the Health Sciences and Morningside campuses.
The Miami Research Center
The Miami Research Center (MRC) research primarily focuses on developing innovative strategies to increase the uptake of HIV and Hepatitis C testing, linkage, retention, and re-engagement in care among vulnerable populations.
