Plasma Screen Guidelines

I. Constructing and Formatting your Image

JPEG or BMP Specs (We cannot accept PDFs or Word Documents)

Size: 1366 pixels high x 768 pixels wide (if your image is a different size, it will get stretched/distorted on the monitor)
Orientation: Portrait (Vertical)
Resolution: 72 dots per inch (Images within your flyer should also be 72 dpi. Stretching or enlarging images reduces dpi. See instructions below.)
Color: RGB (this is the most common one, and it is likely your flyer is already in this format.)

If you have made a flyer in Microsoft Word, see below for how to convert into a JPEG.

PowerPoint Specs

Please visit the digital signage page for PowerPoint digital signage templates. These files have been formatted to the size and orientation required.

  • When saving the file, make sure you click on ‘Save As’ then change the Save As file type to ‘JPEG File Interchange.’
  • Click ‘Current Slide Only’ if it asks you about exporting slides.

Design Guidance

Font size: Headline – 64 point or larger
Body – 48 point or larger
Graphics: Avoid thin or diagonal lines which will appear pixilated.
Avoid saturated reds or greens as these will ‘bleed.’

Try to use clear, simple designs with text that can be read in 20 seconds.

How to check DPI on a PC

  1. Right-click on your image.
  2. Select ‘Properties’.
  3. Click on the ‘Summary’ tab at the top.
  4. Look for the Horizontal and the Vertical Resolution.
  5. If you do not see these, click on the ‘Advanced > >’ tab to expand your view.

How to convert a Microsoft Word flyer into a JPEG using Microsoft Publisher

  1. Hold down CTRL + A or click ‘Edit’ and ‘Select all’ to highlight everything in your document.
  2. Copy using CTRL+ C or the Edit menu.
  3. Paste everything into Publisher. (CTRL + V or Edit, then Paste).
  4. Reposition as necessary.
  5. Click on ‘Save As’ and change the Save As file type to ‘JPEG File Interchange.’

Please note that the School reserves the right to make decisions about what is appropriate for posting and when a posting will appear in the announcement rotation.
