Permissions

Certain courses at the Mailman School require students to obtain advance permission in order to enroll in the class. If a "Permission required" appears in the "Course Notes" column of the course schedule, you will need the permission of the department coordinator (PDF) in the department offering the course.

The department may be able to provide permission at the time you inquire. In other instances students may be placed on a wait-list. If you are wait-listed the department will confirm your status during the "Change of Program" period (add/drop). In either case, your name will be on record with the department, and only those who have obtained permission will be able to enroll. If a student fails to gain permission, he/she may be asked to leave the course.
