Information on Core Course Placement and Waiver Examinations
WAIVER: Students may seek a waiver of any core course. Successful completion of a core waiver exam exempts students from the course requirement but does not carry course credit or reduce the number of credits needed for the degree.

The EHS waiver examination consists of 4 essay questions drawn from the entire EHS core course curriculum. The exam is 3 hours in length. Please plan to use full time allotted. You may review the core course syllabus as an appropriate exam guide for class content. A grade of 80% is required to pass. Access P6300 syllabus. Qualifications: Students wishing to take the waiver exam must get prior approval from the department by demonstrating previous exposure to the materials covered in the core course. You must bring proof of background experience or a comparable course in order to qualify. The exam is offered before the start of each fall and spring semester. All exam takers will be notified within 48 hours via email from the Academic Program Manager of their exam status. The exam may be taken only once.

| In order to take the EPI waiver examination, students must have taken an epidemiology course in the past. The exam is short answer, multiple choice and includes some calculations. Students should bring a calculator. A grade of 80% is required to pass. The exam can only be taken once. |

The exam consists of short answer and essay questions drawn from medical sociology, medical anthropology and health psychology. The exam takes 2-3 hours. You should plan to use full time allotted. We do not provide a handout of the P6700 course syllabus nor do we provide study aides for the waiver exam. A grade of 85% is required to pass. The exam can only be taken once.
