All students who attend Orientation will participate in two common experiences titled “Current Issues in Public Health.“ The session on Wednesday, August 31, will focus on the HIV epidemic and the session on Friday, September 2, will focus on health disparities. Pre-readings are required for these common experiences.
Students will also participate in “Building Leadership Skills” sessions on Tuesday, August 30 and Thursday, September 1. There will be required pre-readings for these sessions as well. Please view the articles referenced and questionnaire below to be completed prior to attending orientation.
Current Issues in Public Health: Tracing the Global HIV Epidemic (Wednesday, August 31)
This session will be facilitated by Dr. Sandro Galea, the Gelman Professor and Chair of Epidemiology. This year’s pre-readings are:

This session will be facilitated by Dr. Robert E. Fullilove, the Associate Dean for Community and Minority Affairs, Professor of Clinical Sociomedical Sciences and the co-director of the Community Research Group. This year’s pre-reading is:
