About The Mailman School

Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health is one of the first accredited schools of public health in the country. Throughout its history, the School has been a national and international leader in many areas of public health research, education, and service.

The Mailman School is comprised of six academic departments (Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Health Policy and Management, Population and Family Health, and Sociomedical Sciences) with 300 multidisciplinary faculty.

Our master (MPH and MS) and doctoral (DrPH and PhD) graduates are well-prepared to address the complex health issues of the day, including AIDS and STDs, cancer, healthcare organization, financing and marketing, international health systems, environmental contamination, teen pregnancy, the effectiveness of new drugs, emerging infections, population growth, refugee health and women’s reproductive health, among others.

If your organization seeks interns, part-time or full-time employees with public health training, the Mailman School of Public Health should be included in your recruiting plans. Our graduates pursue career opportunities in administration and management, program development and evaluation, research, statistical analysis, consulting, finance, business analysis, marketing, clinical trials, risk assessment, industrial hygiene, health economics, policy analysis, health education, social marketing, medical communications, public relations, and public heath practice.

Typical employers include hospitals and health services delivery organizations, relief and international agencies, NGOs, PVOs, consulting firms, schools, colleges and universities, think tanks, community agencies, local, state and federal agencies, not-for-profit and public interest/advocacy organizations, and research facilities.
