Extraordinary Faculty

One of the Mailman School's premier assets is our renowned faculty. At the local, national, and global levels, faculty members are leaders in their fields who shape health policy, launch ground-breaking service initiatives, and undertake cutting-edge research and education programs.

The remarkable diversity of academic and professional training among the School's more than 300 core faculty creates a truly unique environment that fosters innovation and collaboration. The core faculty is comprised of physicians, nurses, sociologists, anthropologists, toxicologists, psychologists, economists, statisticians, lawyers, political scientists, policy analysts, historians, virologists, and many others. This robust combination is significantly augmented by the School’s 270 part-time faculty- public health leaders who infuse classrooms and lecture halls with knowledge and experiences derived from their day-to-day work in the field.

Leaders in Research

In addition to providing a unique blend of professional and academic excellence, the Mailman School faculty also offers students the benefits of a leading research institution. With more than 400 grants from government agencies and private foundations totaling more than $150 million, our faculty are at the forefront of efforts to identify and address issues connected to the health and well-being of communities both near and far. Participation in these wide-ranging and ever-expanding research efforts offers students invaluable hands-on experience that complements the Mailman School’s first-rate academics.
