Drs. Meyer and Namerow Elected as Steering Committee Co-Chairs

As part of the Mailman School’s October assembly, Dean Linda Fried extended her congratulations to two faculty members who recently joined the Steering Committee. Elected as the Committee’s new co-chairs, Drs. Ilan Meyer and Pearila Namarow were lauded by Dr. Fried for their “extensive research and educational experience, and long-standing commitment and contributions to the Mailman School of Public Health.”

Dr. Namerow is Associate Professor of Clinical Population and Family Health. Her work has focused on the causes and consequences of teenage pregnancy, the determinants of women's reproductive decisions, and evaluations of programs designed to meet the reproductive health needs of traditionally under-served populations.

Dr. Meyer is Associate Professor of Clinical Sociomedical Sciences and Deputy Chair for MPH programs in the Department of Sociomedical Sciences. His work has focused on public health issues related to minority health, including stress and illness in minority populations, with particular emphasis on the relationship of minority status, discrimination, and mental health outcomes in sexual minorities.
