Funding Opportunity Email Notification

Numerous funding resources offer users the opportunity to receive automatic email notification regarding specific funding opportunities; several of these are listed below.

Grants.gov Email Notifications

Sign up to receive Grants.gov email notifications using the website's subscription page. From this page, users can select the type of notification(s) they would like to receive, including the following:

SMARTS

SMARTS is a program available through Columbia University's InfoEd that automatically emails grant announcements to subscribers based on specified criteria. Users must sign up for this service, with the option of adding keywords in order to generate grant opportunities tailored to your area(s) of interest.

To sign up for SMARTS, please use the following instructions:

  1. Log into InfoEd using your UNI and your password.
  2. Select Find Funding from the blue menu on the left. Then choose SMARTS.
  3. Under Preferences on the blue menu on the left, answer the four  questions that manage your SMARTS matches.
    Click "yes" to receive SMARTS emails
    – Select "single email" in order to receive all daily hits in one  email.
    – When asked: "Do you want to receive "hits" only from sponsors within the U.S.?" - select "no" to receive SMARTS output from all countries.
    – When asked: "In what format would you like your SMARTS output?" - select "Summary," in order to receive emails that are easier to read.
  4. Select from the blue menu on the left.
    Keywords: Choose "exact matches" or "hierarchically" (all matches that pertain to the keyword), and then select your keywords.                    
    • Applicant Types: Users can select Pre-doctoral-Non-Student, Pre-collegiate Educator/Personnel, or Undergraduate Student as additional types.
    • Award Types: If you make no selections, 'ALL' will be used.
    • Geographical Restrictions: To receive all possible opportunities based on the sponsor's requirements, select: NO RESTRICTIONS, NEW YORK, U.S. EAST, U.S. NORTHEAST, and U.S. MID-ATLANTIC.
    • Sponsor Types: If no selections are made, 'ALL' will be used as a default.
    • Locations Tenable: The location where the project must be carried out. If no selections are made, the system will default to 'ALL'
  5. Save your alert preferences by clicking on Save at the top left.
  6. You will now receive automatic email alerts for funding opportunities that match your criteria.

Foundation Center Email Notifications

The Foundation Center offers a free weekly "RFP Bulletin" email, which includes recently announced Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from private, corporate, and government funding sources. Registration is not required to receive these emails.

To subscribe to the Foundation Center RFP Bulletin, please take the following steps:

  1. Access the Foundation Center's Free Newsletter page
  2. Enter and confirm your email address.
  3. Select the "Subscribe" button next to the "RFP Bulletin."
  4. Click "Submit" to complete the subscription process.
