Discussing: Abortion and Conscientious Objection in Italy: Conflicts around the fetus' "life" and "death" in Italian public hospitals
Silvia De Zordo received a PhD in Social Anthropology from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris in September 2008. Her research interests encompass family planning, contraception and abortion in Latin America, as well as gender and race studies, among other areas. After her PhD she was awarded a Postdoctoral Ellertson Fellowship at Columbia University-Mailman School of Public Health-Dept. of Population and Family Health, where she developed a research project on health professionals' moral and religious convictions and their perceptions of legal and illegal abortion in Brazil. As a Marie Curie Fellow at Goldsmiths-University of London (UK) she is currently completing a new research project on health professionals' experiences and attitudes towards abortion and conscientious objection in Italy and the UK.
