“I try to treat every situation as a learning opportunity. In sharing their ideas, framing issues and arguing and debating, I give students the chance to act as they will in the professional world, and give them opportunities to take the lead and ask questions so they’re not passive learners.“

MPH Degree Track - Health Promotion

Designed for students who are interested in developing, implementing and evaluating strategies that address health promotion issues at multiple levels, it draws on the department’s strengths in the study of social determinants of disease and health. Health behavior has been conceptualized as an interactive product of the social environment; consequently, Health Promotion requires strategies and theories that extend beyond the level of the individual to analyze and target a myriad of interpersonal, organizational, community, economic, political, and cultural factors that shape health.
