Candidate for Master of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management and Fund for Public Health Leadership Scholar 2010-2011
After graduating from Princeton University, I gained extensive experience in public service through a yearlong fellowship at Access Community Health Network, the largest federally qualified health center network in Chicago.
It was there that I saw physicians serving not only as clinicians, but also influencing policy in their own organizations and in their communities. This experience made me realize that my own dream was to be both a great physician and an advocate for underserved patients.
To that end, I am currently pursuing both my MPH at the Mailman School of Public Health and my MD at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where I am in my fourth year. As a graduate student, I am a volunteer at the Columbia Student Medical Outreach Clinic (CoSMO), which provides free, high-quality primary health care to the uninsured population of Washington Heights while promoting community empowerment through outreach and educational efforts.
Through the generous assistance of the Fund for Public Health Leadership, I am privileged to learn from great scholars, exchange ideas with ambitious peers and develop the practical skills necessary to shape policy. Your support makes this possible, and I hope that others after me will be given the same opportunity.
