Lynne Loomis-Price Memorial Fund

Dear Alumni,

Lynne Loomis-Price was a committed humanitarian. From her days as a volunteer in Sierra Leone to her years spent coordinating student opportunities to work in underserved areas of the world, she was a passionate and dedicated advocate of health and human rights. As associate director of Academic Programs for the Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health at the Mailman School, Lynne’s commitment to facilitating the most positive educational experience possible impacted the lives of many students. With a distinguished career that embodied the spirit of the department as a tireless proponent of health equality, Lynne was a true pillar of the Columbia community.

Although she passed away tragically in 2011, Lynne’s work is not done. The department continues its mission to promote access to sexual and reproductive healthcare and education among underserved communities. We strive to give the next generation of public health leaders the best education possible, and continue to advocate for the principles Lynne held dear. It is in this spirit that we have established the Lynne Loomis-Price Memorial Fund to support students in financial need. Each contribution to the Fund will provide critical assistance for a student to attain the education they need to build upon Lynne’s achievements.

Our efforts to improve national and international programs and policies through research, pioneering initiatives, and strategic partnerships cannot continue without proper training for future public health professionals. While we have come far thanks to the hard work of colleagues like Lynne and alumni like you, our work has become more critical than ever as we move forward to shape domestic and global healthcare policy. It is imperative that we have the resources to attract the most promising scholars despite their financial circumstances. It is in these students that our endeavors will advance, and the legacy of transformational public health leaders like Lynne will live on.

Please consider making a gift today. Each contribution is a promise to help us end healthcare disparities and a tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to our mission. Every dollar will make a difference.

Thank you,
