At the American Public Health Association's Annual Meeting, Dean Linda P. Fried announced a new partnership with the French School of Public Health, EHESP (L’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique).
This global collaboration will facilitate exchange between the faculties and graduate students, promoting mutual cooperation on education and scientific research. The two schools have already begun to establish joint programming with the Executive MPH program and the Department of Epidemiology. This network leverages both Schools' strengths to foster leadership and excellence in public health education, research and practice.
Dr. Fried and Dr. Antoine Flahault, dean of EHESP and incoming president of the Association of the Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER), finalized and signed this agreement in the presence of 175 of the School's graduates, faculty and guests at the Alumni and Friends Reception in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts on November 9, 2009.
"This global collaboration offers a wonderful opportunity to create a joint vision of public health on both sides of the Atlantic," Dr. Fried told the group. "It will be the anchor for Columbia University’s Global Center in Paris, leading from a public health perspective for the first time."
