Academic Programs

All Mailman School MPH students must complete five core courses. However, some students may already have sufficient competency within any of the core public health disciplines to receive a waiver of the core course.  For further information on the waiver policy, please see the Mailman School Handbook. 

The required courses are:

• Biostatistics (P6103) or Biostatistics (P6104)* 
• Principles of Epidemiology I (P6400)
• Environmental Health Sciences (P6300)
• Issues and Approaches in Health Policy and Management (P6530)
• Introduction to Sociomedical Sciences (P6700)

*Please consult your department advisor or coordinator for policies regarding the appropriate course level to fulfill the Biostatistics requirement as a placement exam is required for admission to P6104.
