GHI seeks to provide opportunities for students and professionals to share in, and benefit from, our goal of promoting new thinking about key challenges in global health. Building upon the unprecedented interest in the field, we seek to create with partners innovative means of equipping the next generation of global public health leaders.
The INDIGO program offers a unique opportunity for doctoral students from countries in sub-Saharan Africa to study and conduct research with the mission of building capacity for health research in sub-Saharan Africa. Realizing two major objectives of the GHI, the INDIGO program enables future research leaders of Africa to access the extensive expertise of the School’s faculty while also bringing the knowledge and perspective of those researchers into the classroom.
As part of its innovative educational programs in the area of Global Health, the GHI promotes important mentoring opportunities through the following Mailman School academic departments, programs, and centers:
· Averting Maternal Death and Disability/RAISE
· Forced Migration, Population & Family Health
· Global Health Track
· International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Program

GHI is in the process of mapping the competencies required for working in the field of global health as a means of ensuring that curricula are focused on key concepts, values, and skills. This includes an internal consultation, and co-chairing a sub-group of the ASPH Global Health Competencies Mapping Exercise.
