During the summer, the academic program reviews applications of incoming students for a variety of reasons, one of which is to make reasonable matches of advisors and advisees. You will receive a written memo with resumes of your advisees via interoffice mail.
Students are informed of their faculty advisor assignments on the first day of orientation. They are encouraged to reach out to you prepared to discuss their academic objectives, and to explore possible areas in which you might connect them with networks, likeminded colleagues, or resources at the University or in New York.

Courses
Typically, first-semester first-year students have their Fall courses set out for them at orientation. As time goes on, they may seek your insight regarding other courses. You can use this page to investigate courses within our department and others at Mailman:

Honor Code
When they pay their deposit, students also sign an agreement to abide by Mailman's Honor Code. Some students arrive quite savvy about academic integrity. Others do not. If you have any concerns, you should review the Honor Code with your advisee. Also, if you have not already attended one of their seminars of the summer, Student Academic Affairs will invite you to learn more about the school adopting Turnitin software beginning in Fall 2010
