Faith Lamb-Parker, Scientific Director for Head Start’s Ninth National Research Conference
In June of 2008, Faith Lamb-Parker, PhD, assistant clinical professor of Population and Family Health, was the scientific director for Head Start’s Ninth National Research Conference, Creating Connections: Linking Policy, Practice and Research across Early Childhood Development, Care, and Education. The conference, held last summer in Washington, DC, attracted about 1,000 participants from a variety of disciplines including pediatricians, public health professionals, psychologists, and education specialists.
Head Start’s National Research Conferences serve to identify and disseminate research relevant to low-income children and their families - Head Start’s service population. In addition, these conferences aim to foster partnerships among researchers, practitioners, and policy makers.
The Ninth Conference presented the latest research and evidence-based practices, including questions regarding environments, populations, and cultures, highlighting links among early childhood development, care, and education, and how these fields, in turn, inform policy and practice.
