December and January Departmental Events

The Department of Health Policy and Management regularly organizes academic, co-curricular, and special events for students, faculty,  staff, alumni, and community partners.

Brown Bag Seminars:   Students are encouraged to attend this on-going speaker series where Department faculty and visiting scholars present original research on diverse topics in health policy and management.   The seminars are held on Wednesdays from noon to 1pm in the 6th Floor Conference Room at 600 West 168th Street.  The schedule is continually updated and may be found here: http://www.mailman.columbia.edu/academic-departments/health-policy/faculty/brown-bag-seminar

Social Gatherings (Invitation-only): On December 13th, the Department honors graduating second-year students with a celebratory breakfast, and also hosts its annual Holiday Party for faculty, staff, and TAs.

First Annual Preceptor Breakfast (Invitation-only): The summer practicum provides full-time HPM students with the invaluable opportunity to integrate and apply classroom knowledge and obtain practical skills under the guidance of a practicum preceptor. Domestic and global practicum sites range from hospitals and think tanks, to pharmaceutical companies and non-profit organizations.  The Department is pleased to announce that it will host the First Annual Preceptor Breakfast on January 10th to thank the preceptors who have sponsored and supervised practicum opportunities and served as inspiring mentors to our students. Dr. Michael Sparer, PhD, JD, Department Chair, will present a special talk entitled "Health Reform: What Happens Next?" at this event.
