Columbia-South Africa Training Program on HIV-Associated Malignancies

Drs. Al Neugut and Judith Jacobson run the Columbia-South Africa Training Program on HIV-Associated Malignancies. The program focuses on strengthening research into three malignant cancers that have been associated with HIV cases in South Africa: Kaposi sarcoma (KS), non- Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), and cervical cancer. The goal of the program is to train a rising generation of scientists to deal with the growing burden that these cancers are posing on the public health infrastructure in South Africa. It partners with institutions in South Africa, including the University of KwaZuluNatal and is funded by a D043 grant from the National Cancer Institute.
