Committees

Curriculum Committee

The Curriculum Committee is responsible for approving new courses, mapping program competencies to the curriculum, identifying gaps in the curriculum, communicating teaching needs to the department chair, monitoring course quality and orienting new faculty to the teaching program. The committee works closely with the master's and doctoral committees.

Master’s Committee

The Master’s Committee is responsible for advising the department chair on all aspects of the Master's program (e.g.,policy, advising, admissions) not covered by the department's Curriculum Committee. Meetings are held monthly, but the bulk of the work takes place in January and February when electronic MPH and MS applications are reviewed.

Doctoral Committee

The Doctoral Committee is responsible for overseeing the Doctoral Program in Epidemiology. Most of its work focuses on curriculum, competencies, exam and dissertation protocols, recruiting and admissions. Meetings are held monthly with a heavier load of work during admissions review in February and March.

Diversity Committee

The Diversity Committee focuses on increasing the number of matriculating underrepresented racial/ethnic minority students and increasing the recruitment and retention of underrepresented racial/ethnic minority faculty members within the Department of Epidemiology. The Committee’s goals are achieved through collaborative efforts with the Department’s Doctoral Committee, Master's Committee, Curriculum Committee, Student and Faculty Funding Sources, and the School-wide Diversity Committee of the Dean's Office at the Mailman School of Public Health. Meetings are held monthly.
