All PhD students receive full tuition, a stipend, and health insurance coverage. The amount of the stipend is set by Columbia University. In exchange for this support, all students are required to maintain a full academic schedule which includes course work, research, and other academic related responsibilities.
Additionally, all PhD students are expected to be a Teaching Assistant (TA) for a maximum of two semesters. This teaching experience counts toward part of student training.
Support is provided throughout the entire five years the student is in the program. Beyond year 5, financial support cannot be guaranteed but, if possible, is worked out on a case-by-case basis.
