Columbia Center for Youth Violence Prevention

Training, Seminars and Internships

In addition to conducting research projects and creating interventions, the Columbia Center for Youth Violence Prevention provides numerous opportunities to engage anyone interested in learning more about the causes of youth violence and how to prevent it.

Trainings: A Learning Experience

The Columbia Center for Youth Violence Prevention offers the following opportunities:

  1. Intro to Theory and Research on Interpersonal Violence (P6758) is taught every spring by one of our principal investigators, Dr. Hernandez-Cordero. Though it varies each semester with different guest lecturers, the course is designed as an introduction to the definitions, patterns, reactions, and explanations of violence in the United States. Please refer to the course catalog and registration pages if you’re interested in signing up for this course.
  2. Our Principal Investigators are available to and have provided advcice to doctoral students working on violence prevention-related and violence research projects and dissertations.

Attend a Seminar

Our outstanding seminar series is a component of Prof. Hernandez-Cordero’s Intro to Theory and Research on Interpersonal Violence course, but is open to community partners, students in training, researchers, and the public.

CCYVP also collaborates with other centers and organizations to provide the community with valuable information via seminars and/or lectures.

Check here periodically for updates on upcoming seminars!
